Lyrics
The sun has already set,
She sits there at the dining table, the hours are getting late
He was supposed to be here, she was sure he would have called but it keeps getting late
She waits a little longer but there’s no one at the gate
No one said they had seen him,
Her anxiety and worry increasing she asks herself why, what must be wrong with him?
She looks through the window again, and then suddenly the phone rings
The voice on the other side says something’s happened that she has to come right now
Her mind races back to December, as she remembers what he had asked her:
He bent down on one knee first, grabbed her hand in his second, looked her straight in the eye and said
“I, I want you forever, forever and always
Through the good, through the bad and the ugly
We’ll grow old together, forever and always”
She pulls up to the entrance, she walks right straight to the front desk
They lead her down what feels like a thousand of corners, a million of halls, in a maze that is never ending
They talk about what happened but she can barely hear them
She tries to keep a straight face as she walks into the room
She walks in slowly fighting tears from her eyes mustering all her courage and strength she sits by his bedside,
She grabbed her hand into his and held it soo tight
They talk about the kids they’re gonna have and the good life they have always planned
The house on the hillside where they will stay
Stay there forever, forever and always
Through the good through the bad and the ugly
We’ll grow old together and always remember
Whether rich or for poor or for better
We’ll still love each other, forever, forever and always
Her eyes brightened as she gets an idea
She calls in the nurses,
She calls in the chaplain so he can say a couple verses
She borrows some rings from the couple next door
Everybody is laughing as the tears fall to the floor
She looks into his eyes and she says
“I, I want you forever, forever and always
Through the good and the bad and the ugly
We’ll grow old together and always remember
Whether happy or sad or whatever
We’ll still love each other, forever and always
Forever and always”
As she finishes the vows, she could hear the beeps getting slow, slower and slow
His voice so soft, so small, getting low, lower and low he said
“I, I’ll love you forever, forever and always
Please, just remember even if I’m not there
I’ll always love you, forever and always”
